Financial Advisor in Washington, DC • Husband • Millennial Father

Whether you live down the street or across the country, let's finally check your lingering money tasks off your to-do list

I grew up in an (almost) all-female household, led by a tireless single mother. I witnessed how personal finance often impacts women differently: gender pay gaps, motherhood penalties, and longer lifespans, to name a few examples.

I may not be able to eliminate these challenging dynamics. But as a fee-only financial advisor in Washington, DC, I can help Millennial women like you put together a strong financial plan based on what you can control. Whether you've inherited money from a loved one or built up your savings during your career, I want to guide you in making the most of this opportunity.

Millennial women deserve to feel empowered to use their money in ways that improve their lives, without guilt or needless stress. Are you there yet?

To get a feel for how I approach money decisions, check out my recent in-studio interview at NBC

Your Financial Guide (And, At Times, Therapist)

This should be more about me than you. That's why we're here, after all.

You're here in the hope of finding a financial partner who understands where you're coming from. Amid rapid AI growth, you're here to connect with an actual person. You want to create a financial relationship to have open conversations about both your wishes & worries.

The feedback my clients have shared will say better than I can whether I'm that financial advisor for you. Even so, you may want to hear a little bit from me directly.

One of the most common questions I get from potential clients is, "How do I know that you can help me? There are so many options for financial advice."

  • You want a partner who acknowledges the demands on your time and energy, which often doesn't make it easy to grow your wealth as you'd like.
  • And with that in mind, you want a highly knowledgable specialist who won't waste your time with an inefficient process or clunky technology.
  • You want someone who's willing to listen to how you actually want to use your money, and not make assumptions about your future.
  • You know you could manage this on your own, but you value outsourcing some of the mental labor to improve your decisions, save you time, and hold you accountable.
  • You don't want to feel judged for your past mistakes or your future wishes. You want someone who respects that money provides value to people in different ways.

This is what financial planning for Millennial women means to me. And it's what you should expect from me in our work together, whether we're discussing an inheritance, college savings accounts, tax strategies, housing decisions, or just investing in general.

So yes, I'm a Certified Financial Planner who has picked up some recognition for his work with Millennials specifically. But that's not why you should work with me. We'll mesh well if you want a convenient, transparent relationship in which we collaborate to build a sustainable financial strategy for your life.

What else would you like to know? I have a Q&A page here. You also can feel free to e-mail me at kevin@illumintfc.com. And of course, there's always LinkedIn if you want to read the boring bio.  ;-)
